Bridgewater, NJ – The Somerset Patriots have announced the signing of catcher/infielder Gabriel Bracamonte for the 2019 season. Bracamonte was signed from the Atlantic League Player Showcase held in Lakeland Florida from Friday, March 29th through Sunday, March 31st and has been invited to join the team at its upcoming Spring Training at TD Bank Ballpark.
The Venezuelan countryman is entering his first season with the Somerset Patriots and the Atlantic League. He spent most of the 2018 season with the Pittsburgh Diamonds of the independent Pacific Association. He had a career year, hitting .323 with 42 runs, 76 hits, 11 doubles, 10 home runs and 57 RBI in 59 games.
Bracamonte spent the majority of his five-year professional career in the Houston Astros organization from 2014 to 2018, most recently appearing in 12 games for Single-A Quad City last season.
For his career, Bracamonte has a .277 average, 175 hits and 84 RBI over 187 games played.
The Atlantic League Player Showcase provided a performance platform to highly skilled baseball players wishing to advance their careers with professional baseball organizations. Players with baseball experience at all levels were invited to attend, with preference offered to players with qualifying MLB, AAA and Atlantic League experience.
