All-Decade Team: Reliever Buddy Boshers

Bridgewater, NJ- The Somerset Patriots have announced that LHP Buddy Boshers has been selected as the reliever of the 2010-2019 All-Decade Team.

“My time in Somerset really turned my career around and taught me a lot about myself as a person and as a teammate,” said Boshers. “I can’t thank the front office, the coaches, my teammates, and most importantly the fans enough.”

Prior to joining the Somerset Patriots for his lone season with the club in 2015, Boshers had Major League service with the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim in 2013. That year, the southpaw reliever appeared in 25 games and struck out 13 batters in 15.1 innings of work.

During his championship season in Somerset, Boshers finished with a 1.00 ERA and 71 strikeouts in 54 innings pitched over 52 games. He went on to be named to the Atlantic League Post Season All-Star Team.

“Buddy Boshers was one of the most dominant relief pitchers I have ever been around,” said Somerset Patriots manager Brett Jodie. “It is so valuable to know you have a shutdown guy in the bullpen who can pitch in any role.  We saved Buddy for tough, crucial situations and he was truly consistent every time out. He not only handled pressure, but thrived in it while on the mound. He was always very calm and composed and that helped teach his teammates how to control themselves better as well.  Buddy Boshers made my job much easier and it was awesome to have him as part of the Patriots Family.”

After the 2015 season, Boshers was signed by the Minnesota Twins and started the season at the Triple-A level in Rochester. He became the 15th Somerset Patriots player at the time to make the Major League level after time in Somerset.

He pitched in 75 MLB games for the Twins during the 2016 and 2017 seasons, before once again appearing in the Big Leagues with the Toronto Blue Jays in 2019.

Boshers faced tough competition in the All-Decade Team voting against popular relief pitchers Mike Antonini and Jason Lowey. He was able to pull away with a little over 46% of the votes.

Voting took place online and over 5,000 fans casted their ballots for their favorite players at each position from January 3rd through April 15th. The Somerset Patriots All-Decade Team will be announced over the next few weeks.
