Bridgewater, NJ – The Five-Time Atlantic League Champion Somerset Patriots have announced their promotional calendar for the 2010 season.
Opening Day at TD Bank Ballpark will take place on Friday, April 30th at 7:05 pm against the Bridgeport Bluefish. The game will feature a Championship Celebration that includes the Ring Ceremony, the raising of the Championship Flag, and a Post Game Fireworks Show. The Patriots are in the process of scheduling several Fireworks Nights for the 2010 season.
Opening Weekend will continue with Schedule Magnets on Saturday, May 1st and Youth Jerseys and Kids Opening Day on Sunday, May 2nd.
The Patriots will celebrate their fifth Atlantic League Championship with special giveaways. On Friday, May 5th the first 2,000 fans will receive a Five-Time Champions Logo Baseball, on Thursday, May 20th, the Patriots will be giving out a Card Strip celebrating the team’s five championships, and on Saturday, May 22nd, the first 2,000 fans will receive a Five-Time Champions T-Shirt.
One of the most anticipated giveaways will be on Friday, June 4th when the first 2,000 fans will receive a Sparkee The Mascot Championship Bobblehead Doll, depicting Sparkee with the Championship Trophy.
The Patriots are hosting special awareness and fundraising events to fight Breast Cancer on Sunday, May 9th and Prostate Cancer on Friday, September 17th. The Patriots players and coaches will wear Pink Jerseys on May 9th and Blue Jerseys on September 17th to auction off and raise money to support the Somerset Medical Center Foundation.
Other special events include nights to recognize teachers from Somerset (Tuesday, June 15th & Wednesday, June 16th), Middlesex (Monday, June 7th), and Hunterdon Counties (Thursday, June 17th).
The Patriots will honor Veterans at the ballpark on Sunday, August 29th with the 8th Annual Veterans of America Day.
Due to popular demand, the Somerset Patriots will host three Bark In The Park Nights during 2010 to give fans a chance to watch the games with their dogs. Bark In The Park Nights are scheduled for Monday, June 14th, Monday, August 2nd, and Monday, August 30th.
New giveaways this season include Kites for the first 1,500 kids on Sunday, May 23rd, a Commemorative Canvas on July 18th, Jersey Cinch Sacks (1st 2,000) on Saturday, July 31st, Glow Fans (1st 2,000) on Saturday, August 14th, and the first 1,500 kids will receive Sling Bags on Friday, August 27th.
