Bridgewater, NJ – The Three-Time Atlantic League Champion Somerset Patriots have announced that right-handed pitcher Kip Bouknight has been named the Atlantic League Pitcher of the Month for August.
Bouknight was 4-0 with a 2.00 ERA in seven August appearances, including five starts.
Bouknight is currently 4-1 with a 3.43 ERA in 12 games with the Patriots during the 2008 season.
Before joining the Patriots, Bouknight had experience in the Colorado Rockies, Toronto Blue Jays, Pittsburgh Pirates and Philadelphia Phillies organizations, including five seasons at the Triple-A level.
Bouknight has a minor league career record of 60-54 with a 4.07 ERA and 699 strikeouts in 196 games, 174 as a starter. He has pitched six complete games and pitched two complete game shutouts.
Bouknight pitched the 2007 season at the Double-A level in Altoona and had a record of 11-6 and posted a 3.83 ERA in 24 games.
Bouknight spent the early part of this season at the Double-A level with the Reading Phillies, where he started 16 games.
