Bridgewater, New Jersey - Jewish Federation of Greater MetroWest NJ is partnering with the Somerset Patriots for a Jewish Community Night at the Ballpark event on Sunday, July 29 at the TD Bank Ballpark.
The first pitch against the visiting Road Warriors is scheduled for 5:05 p.m. but attendees are invited to come at 4 p.m. for a pregame autograph session with the players. The first 1,5000 fans to arrive will receive a Somerset Patriots/Federation rally towel, and everyone will have an opportunity to run the bases after the game.
Federation will offer a kosher food concession stand for the event, serving hot dogs, falafel, shawarma, and more delicacies provided by Bistro70 under strict kosher supervision of the Star-K, a recognized supervisor by the Vaad of MetroWest.
Jewish vendors and Federation partner agencies will have tables set up along the main concourse providing information, and several themed pregame performances and presentations will take place on the field.
“Baseball is the perfect opportunity for families with kids of all ages to enjoy a fun time together,” says Justin Sakofs, Federation’s Director of Empowerment for Families with School Age Children. “But baseball is much more than just a game. It’s also about the in between. It's about the experience between the hits and catches that make a difference – the cheering of the crowd, the excitement of walking into the stadium, the taste of the hot dogs, the explanation of a play... These are the things that make a long-lasting impression on kids. And, of course, we will provide materials to help parents make the most of this experience with their children.”
Tickets for Night at the Ballpark are $12 each, or $18 (includes a $10 voucher for kosher concessions) and are available at www.jfedgmw.org/baseball.
