Bridgewater, NJ- The
Five-Time Atlantic League Champion Somerset Patriots have announced the
signings of outfielders Joe Holden and Aharon Eggleston.
Holden returns for his
fourth season in Somerset. He finished 2012 with a .268 average, 86 hits, 13
doubles, three triples, 25 RBI, and 22 stolen bases in 92 games played.
Holden was an Atlantic
League All-Star in 2011 with a .272 average, 90 hits, 21 doubles, 32 RBI, and
was among the league leaders with 31 stolen bases.
Before
joining Somerset, Holden played in 2008 for the St. Lucie Mets of the Florida
State League, finishing with a .259 batting average, 30 hits, three doubles,
and 11 RBI in 42 games.
“Joe’s
been a great part of our team and a fan favorite each of his seasons with us
for his gritty play on the field and willingness to always be involved in our
community. We look forward to Joe being back with us this year,” said Patrick
McVerry, President/General Manager of the Somerset Patriots Baseball Club.
Eggleston
has eight seasons of independent minor league experience including time in the
Northern League, Atlantic League, and American Association.
He
spent last season at Fargo-Moorhead and finished with a .277 batting average
with 43 hits, seven doubles, and 14 RBI in 38 games played.
In
2011 at Kansas City, Eggleston hit .324 with 101 hits, 23 doubles, six home
runs, and 49 RBI in 82 games played.
He
appeared in 12 games for the York Revolution of the Atlantic League during the
2009 season.
He has a minor league career .311 batting
average, 757 hits, 136 doubles, 22 triples, 24 home runs, 327 RBI, and 132
stolen bases in 623 games played.
