Patriots To Host American Cancer Society Night

Special game is a fundraiser and awareness night

Bridgewater, NJ- The Somerset Patriots have announced that they have partnered with the American Cancer Society to host a special awareness night on Saturday, April 26th at TD Bank Ballpark during their game against the Long Island Ducks.  First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 pm.


The American Cancer Society and their signature fundraising event, Relay for Life, is designed to raise funds and awareness for their mission to eliminate cancer as a major health issue.

Bridgewater, NJ- The Somerset Patriots will celebrate the opening of the ballpark with their annual Fan Fest at TD Bank Ballpark on Saturday, April 12th from 12:00 pm to 3:00 pm.


Somerset Patriots Fan Fest is a FREE admission event and includes a chance for fans to meet and get autographs from baseball legend and the team’s manager emeritus Sparky Lyle, manager Brett Jodie, hitting/third base coach Shane Spencer and Patriots players at different times during the event

Somerset Patriots To Host Open Player Tryouts

Try out for the 2014 squad on Saturday, April 12th

Bridgewater, NJ- The Somerset Patriots have announced that open player tryouts for the team will be held at TD Bank Ballpark on Saturday, April 12th beginning at 9:00 am.

There will be an administration fee of $40 to tryout, with proceeds being donated to the Somerset Patriots Children’s Educational And Sportsmanship Foundation, which has been established to give to various charities suppod by the Somerset Patriots.


Players are to report to TD Bank Ballpark at 8:00 am for registration. Participants must be high school graduates and at least eighteen years of age. All those present should

Lyle Named Honorary Chair Of Step Out Walk

Lyle Will Help Raise Money To Fight Diabetes

Bridgewater, NJ-  American Diabetes Association's Northern New Jersey Market has announced that Sparky Lyle, a Major League Baseball Cy Young Award winner (1977) and Manager Emeritus of the Somerset Patriots, will join Step Out: Walk to Stop Diabetes as the Honorary Chair. Lyle, who was recently diagnosed with type 2 diabetes, will drive fundraising and raise awareness around three events in New Jersey.


The Step Out fundraisers will take place Sept. 28 at BD in Franklin Lakes, Oct. 11 at TD Bank Ballpark in Bridgewater, and Oct. 19 at Novo Nordisk

Somerset Patriots Helping SCEA With Logo Design Contest

Local public high school students can win a $2,000 scholarship for winning

Bridgewater, NJ- The Somerset County Education Association is hosting a logo contest for public high school students to design a new logo for the organization.


The design must have the full Somerset County Education Association name included and it is recommended that the students incorporate Somerset County and education in the design.


The Somerset County Education Association is asking public high school students to submit a design by e-mail no later than February 17, 2014 to enter to win a $2,000 scholarship.


Patriots Donate County Parks Book To Every Somerset County School And Library

Book highlights county parks and history of Park Commission

BRIDGEWATER, NJ – The Somerset Patriots Baseball Club and Chairman Steve Kalafer have purchased and will donate copies of the limited edition book Natural Beauty: Somerset County Parks by Clifford W. Zink to every Somerset County school and library.

Natural Beauty: Somerset County Parks is a recently published chronicle of the history of the Somerset County Park Commission and is released by the Somerset County Park Foundation.


With 425 illustrations and photos from the 57-year history of the Commission, the book details the remarkable inception and growth of the nationally recognized park system. 

Sparkee Helps Deliver Holiday Cheer

Sparkee joins David's Touch in delivering toys to children

Bridgewater, NJ- On the morning of December 17th, everyone's favorite mascot, Sparkee, teamed up with David's Touch Foundation to bring holiday cheer to children currently undergoing treatment at local hospitals.  Throughout the year, David's Touch Foundation collected toys at various events, including the Somerset Patriots Christmas in July fundraiser at TD Bank Ballpark, to distribute to the children.


In addition to representatives from David's Touch Foundation, Sparkee was also joined by Santa, members of the New Jersey State Police, Middlesex County Department of Corrections, and representatives from the organization's partners.  Sparkee went room to room delivering toys to children at Bristol-Myers

Toy Drive Collects Hundreds Of Toys

 Bridgewater, NJ- The Somerset Patriots, Manager Emeritus Sparky Lyle, and Manager Brett Jodie hosted their annual Holiday Toy Drive at TD Bank Ballpark on Saturday, December 7th and collected hundreds of toys to give to children during the holiday season.


Fans were able to bring unwrapped toys to the Somerset Patriots Team Store located at the ballpark throughout the day. All the toys were donated to Foster Adoptive Family Services of New Jersey for those less fortunate.

Bridgewater, NJ- The Five-Time Atlantic League Champion Somerset Patriots hosted their 5th Annual Somerset Patriots 5K Charity Run on Saturday, September 14th at 9:00 am.  


The 5K Run benefited The Somerset Patriots Children’s Educational & Sportsmanship Foundation and featured a moderate course looping around the entire ballpark, finishing with a lap around the warning track of the playing field.

Patriots To Host Diabetes Awareness Day

Join in this family fun filled event

Bridgewater, NJ- The Five-Time Atlantic League Champion Somerset Patriots have announced that they have teamed up with the American Diabetes Association to host Diabetes Awareness Day at TD Bank Ballpark on Sunday, September 15th for their 1:05 pm game against the Long Island Ducks.


All Patriots players and coaches will be wearing special jerseys presented by Walgreens that will be auctioned off in a tricky tray during the game to raise awareness and money for the fight against diabetes. All of the proceeds from the jersey action will go to the American Diabetes Association.
