Jake Fox Signs with Toronto Blue Jays

Former Patriot Earns Spring Training Invite


Bridgewater, N.J. – Somerset Patriots designated hitter Jake Fox has signed a minor league contract with the Toronto Blue Jays organization with a Major League Spring Training invite.

 

Last year, the Indiana native split the majority of his time between Mexico (Laguna) and Double-A Reading in the Philadelphia Phillies organization before finishing the season with the Patriots. Overall, Fox combined to hit .309 with 38 home runs and 118 RBI over 140 games.

Bridgewater, N.J. – The Somerset Patriots hosted its annual Holiday Toy Drive on Saturday, December 13 at TD Bank Ballpark. All of the toys were donated to The Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots of Central Jersey.

 

A record number of toys were collected from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the Somerset Patriots Team Store. Manager Emeritus Sparky Lyle was in attendance, where he met fans, signed autographs and took pictures.

Bridgewater, N.J. – On Thursday, December 4, the Somerset Patriots received the Community Service Award from Alternatives Inc. at the Ukrainian Cultural Center for the team’s work in support of Alternatives Inc. and its clientele.

 

Somerset Patriots Vice President of Public Relations Marc Russinoff was on hand for the Holiday Awards Dinner to accept the award on the team’s behalf. Members of Alternatives Inc. were also honored for their progress and dedication throughout the year.

Patriots Reliever Jason Lowey Signed By Rockies

Reigning Reliever Of The Year Signed


Bridgewater, N.J.- Somerset Patriots right-handed pitcher Jason Lowey, the reigning Atlantic League Reliever Of The Year, has been signed by the Colorado Rockies organization. 

Lowey received the honor as the league’s top reliever after posting a 5-1 record with a 1.90 earned run average and 59 strikeouts against just 15 walks over 56.2 innings pitched. In addition, his 59 appearances were tied with closer Jon Hunton for the team lead.

Bridgewater, N.J. – The Atlantic League of Professional Baseball announced today the league’s Postseason Awards for the 2014 campaign, with seven Somerset Patriots players earning recognition.

 

Corey Smith (third base), Adam Donachie (catcher), Matt Zielinksi (left-handed star), Jason Lowey (reliever) and Jon Hunton (closer) were all named to the 2014 Atlantic League First-Team. Luis Montanez (outfielder) and Matt Maloney (left-handed star) were named to the Atlantic League Second-Team.

Home Opener On Friday, May 1st


Bridgewater, NJ- The Somerset Patriots have announced their schedule for the 2015 season. Click Here For Full 2015 Schedule!

 

The Patriots will begin the season on the road and will have their home opener on Friday, May 1st against the York Revolution at 7:05 pm.

 

The Patriots will host 70 home games at TD Bank Ballpark during the 140 game Atlantic League schedule running from Friday, April 24th through Sunday, September 20th.

Bridgewater, NJ- The Somerset Patriots would like to thank all of our tremendous fans for a great 2014 season. Though we didn’t win it all this year, there is still a lot to be proud of on and off the field.

 

The Somerset Patriots finished with a league best 85-55 record and clinched both Half Titles of the Liberty Division. With their 47-23 record in the First Half, Somerset set a new team record for wins in a half.

Barnstormers Win Liberty Division Series

Patriots Eliminated From Playoffs


Bridgewater, NJ – The Lancaster Barnstormers (3-2) defeated the Somerset Patriots (2-3) 9-1 Sunday afternoon in Game Five of the Liberty Division Series from TD Bank Ballpark. With the victory the Barnstormers advance to their 3rd Atlantic League Championship Series in franchise history. Lancaster won games one, four, and five to win this best-of-five series 3-2.

 

The Barnstormers powered their way to victory as they launched four home runs in Game Five and drilled eight home runs in the series.
